Educate To Life - Montessori Notes

Little People, Big Dreams

Time to wake up from a much-needed month of digital silence (during which I entertained myself with a broken toe and my Life in the UK handbook :) to share the first two male additions to the bestselling series Little People, BIG DREAMS, which will be out in the UK soon, on February 7th.
The two titles explore the complex lives of two great men of our times, who were both born in January 1942: British cosmologist and bestselling author Stephen William Hawking (1942-2018) who remains in history for his theory about the black holes and who had the merit of bringing cosmology closer to the general public thanks to his books, while fighting against degenerative motor neurone disease for over 50 years, and 'The Greatest' professional boxer and activist Cassius Clay (1942-2016), famous for his opposition to the Vietnam War and for his role as symbol of black pride among African-Americans.
Author Isabel Sanchez Vegara succeeds one more time in the difficult task of explaining why their lives matter to us beyond their professional achievements, while the colourful illustrations by British Matt Hunt and Barcelona-based brothers Brosmind manage to visually condense the complexity of the themes embodied by the two men into two deeply engaging stories.
Illness, racial pride, passion, war,  vision, fortitude, religion: there's a lot to take in for little ones, and although I sometimes find myself wondering whether my daughter can actually cope with all this yet, I then realise that she does when she keeps asking me to read the titles in this series.
And we have read these multiple times already, since she grasps something at each reading, making questions, and staring at the photographs in the Bio at the end of the book, while realising that the story is real, and nothing inspires children as much as reality.

Keep an eye on the upcoming releases in this series as there are some exciting names!
