Peace and Me. Inspired by the lives of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates

What does the word peace mean? What does it mean to you?
Writer Ali Winter finds the answer in the lives of twelve Nobel Peace Prize Laureates of the 20th and 21st centuries, supporting with facts the definition of such an important idea and issue of our times.
Mickaël El Fathi beautifully illustrates the characters using patterned, eye-catching digital artwork and a rich palette of vivid colours. Each spread feels different within El Fathi's striking visual language and each one is a feast for the eyes, to convey the multi-coloured facets of the word peace.
Peace and me is a beautiful, important book. One of those that can inspire children and adults alike, and that should have a place in any classroom or home library.
What I particularly value in this book is that it is factual. It starts a reflection on big ideals keeping them concrete and encouraging young readers to acknowledge as well as to contribute to the construction of meaning, seeing how we can all participate with real-life actions.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded on behalf of Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel's estate, based on instructions of Nobel's will, "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." The Norwegian Nobel Committee selects the recipients each year.
The Prize goes to people who made the world a better and safer place to live in for everyone.
Big people who once were children with a vision.
Amnesty International endorses this book because it shows how standing up for other people makes the world a better, more peaceful place.
